Review MontieK Tourbillon by iW Magazine

The MontieK MPTS-01 Tourbillon has been reviewed in the February issue of the renown International Watch Magazine (iW) by Jonathan Bues (Managing-Editor). Some quotes:

“Wearing The MPTS-01 was a pleasure. The watch is 41mm in diameter, which I consider the ideal size for a modern dress watch, and was among the most comfortable watches I have worn in some time, which I attribute to the suppleness of its alligator strap” Bues wrote.

MontieK sources each component –strap, clasp, crystal, case and crown from the best supplier in China and designs the timepieces in The Netherlands. Bues concludes: “After wearing one for some time, however, it’s clear to me that MontieK excels as a result of Taree’s sourcing efforts. The sum of these carefully sourced parts feel like quite a bit more than the average Chinese made watch and every bit worth Taree’s €`1,410 asking price”.

As to the accuracy of the watch Bues states “After wearing the MontieK for more than fifty non-consecutive days, I found that it kept remarkably good time. Indeed, over that period I never noticed it running more than one minute off of my cell phone’s time display. International Watch’s in-house watchmaker confirmed my findings with his own impressive Witschi test results”.

iW also underlines that MontieK tourbillons are shipped with a two year warranty and that “MontieK aims to provide a customer-service experience worthy of a luxury watch“. As Taree told iW, MontieK believes there is a large constituency of watch enthusiasts who would love to own an affordable tourbillon, and that one thing stopping them has been the lack of a brand willing to stand firmly behind such a product.
